Nothing Part 2

5-Day Devotional: Never Too Far Gone

Day 1: Built on the Solid Rock

Reading: Matthew 7:24-27; Psalm 18:1-2

Devotional: When storms rage and winds blow against our lives, what foundation are we standing on? The sermon reminded us that Christ is our firm foundation—the rock that never fails. Throughout Scripture, God is described as our rock, our fortress, and our deliverer. When everything around us shakes—relationships crumble, health fails, finances collapse—Jesus remains steady. He has never let His people down through generations, and He will not fail you now. Today, examine what you're building your life upon. Are your hopes anchored in circumstances, people, or possessions? Or are you standing firm on Christ alone? When you build on Him, no storm can destroy what He has established in your life.

Day 2: Grace in the Genealogy

Reading: Matthew 1:1-17; Genesis 38:1-30

Devotional: Jesus' family tree is filled with broken, flawed, sinful people—Tamar, who posed as a prostitute; Rahab, an actual prostitute; Bathsheba, caught in adultery. Yet God intentionally included them in the lineage of His Son. This is not accidental—it is the gospel message written into Jesus' very DNA. God does not wait for us to clean ourselves up before He uses us. He meets us in our mess, in our shame, in our deepest failures. If you believe you are too stained, too broken, or too far gone for God to use you, look at Jesus' ancestry. Your past does not disqualify you from God's purposes. In fact, God specializes in redeeming the irredeemable and using the unusable. Your story of brokenness can become His story of redemption.

Day 3: Once for All Time

Reading: Hebrews 10:1-18

Devotional: "Once for all time." Let those words sink deep into your soul. Jesus offered Himself as a single sacrifice for sins—not just for that moment, but forever. You do not need to keep earning forgiveness. You do not need to perform religious rituals to maintain God's favor. Christ's sacrifice was complete, perfect, and eternal. Verse 17 contains one of the most liberating promises in Scripture: "I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds." When you confess your sins to Jesus, He does not keep a record. He does not hold your past against you. He makes you perfect—not through your effort, but through His finished work. Today, stop trying to add to what Jesus has already completed. Simply receive His grace.

Day 4: Come As You Are

Reading: Luke 15:11-32; Isaiah 1:18

Devotional: The testimony shared in the sermon about coming to church drunk yet knowing it was where she needed to be captures the heart of the gospel. God does not require you to get cleaned up before coming to Him—He invites you to come as you are so He can clean you up. The prodigal son did not shower and change clothes before heading home; he came covered in pig filth, and his father ran to embrace him. You may be sitting in shame right now, convinced you are too broken for God to want you. But Jesus specializes in meeting people at their lowest point. Your brokenness is not a barrier to God—it is the very thing that qualifies you for His mercy. Stop waiting until you feel worthy. Come now, just as you are.

Day 5: His Mercy Is More

Reading: Lamentations 3:19-26; Romans 5:20-21

Devotional: "Our sins they are many, His mercy is more." This truth stands as the cornerstone of our faith. No matter how extensive your sin, God's mercy is greater. No matter how deep your shame, His grace goes deeper. The apostle Paul writes that where sin increased, grace abounded all the more. God's mercy is not rationed or limited—it is new every morning, stronger than any darkness you face. Today, you may be haunted by past failures or current struggles. You may feel that you have exhausted God's patience. But His mercies never end; they are renewed with each sunrise. You are not promised tomorrow, so do not delay in accepting the mercy God offers today. Jesus is coming back—make sure you are ready by receiving His abundant mercy right now.
